Business Roundtable is an association of chief executive officers of America’s leading companies working to promote a thriving U.S. economy and expanded opportunity for all Americans through sound public policy.

On August 19, 2019, 181 CEOs of America’s largest corporations overturned a 22-year-old policy statement that defined a corporation’s principal purpose as maximizing shareholder return.

In its place, the CEOs of Business Roundtable adopted a new Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation declaring that companies should serve not only their shareholders, but also deliver value to their customers, invest in employees, deal fairly with suppliers and support the communities in which they operate.

Since 1978, Business Roundtable has periodically issued Principles of Corporate Governance. Each version of the document issued since 1997 has endorsed principles of shareholder primacy – that corporations exist principally to serve shareholders but not any more. The Human-Centric Future has arrived.

So yes, we are in a Paradigm shift that are changing your business landscape, they way you do business and recruit talents. Some is saying that this shift is larger than the Industrial Revolution.

Let’s dive deeper into the different systems that has been defining the largest wealth building era.

System I is the Industrial revolution where the main strategic focus was on manufacturing. This system took from the agri-cultural life many had and created a lot of innovations still used today. System II focused on knowledge building and globalisation. It created enormous wealth around the world and took many people out of poverty but it also made the rich richer and the gap between rich and poor increased. When system was changed we called this a paradigm shift and there is always a loss in performance when transforming from one level to the other. In the graph above that is represented by area A.

When we now transform from System II to System III it will be like "crossing river Rubicon”. Rightly understood it will mean huge opportunities.

We are in a Paradigm shift that are changing your business landscape, the way you do business, keep our co-workers and recruit talents. Some is saying that this shift is larger than the Industrial Revolution.

Today work have already been replaced by AI (artificial intelligence) and more will come. But we don’t need to only talk about AI, since we all were forced to change our rutins in business and private when we entered in to the Pandemic.

  •  What did that do to us?
  •  What have it done with our engagement for the work and for me as a person?
  •  We all have changed after this period and a lot of us are feeling stuck.

An Extensive Gallup Research on global employee engagement between 2010 and 2020 constantly shows that more than 80% of employees worldwide are moderately to actively disengaged in their jobs. Have this changed or not after the pandemic? Time will show. We think so based on many contacts in business and private.

Many people feel that they are stuck in their lives and want to change but don’t now how. They eat, sleep, work and repeat.

Now when we are about to end this Pandemic and that the Human-Centric Future has arrived the need for change has accelerated.

How to become a Human-Centric Leader will be key for growth and development. We have launched our new coaching program - Coaching to become a Human-Centric Leader. Head over, Now.
